This is a website dedicated to transcribing Vera’s camping diaries.

There are hundreds of hand-written pages in several paper folders and I (Fania) am going through them slowly. I’m scanning postcards, photos, and hand-drawn sketches as a go along and add them to this site. I try to leave the text as is, although I correct very obvious spelling errors in proper nouns, or place names, etc.

I have added hyperlinks to places or people of interest where I thought it was appropriate - I thought it helps trace her journey (certainly helped me when doing the research at times).

There are currently 186 diary entries in the archive spread over 15 different holidays and searchable via 17 different tags.

‘A short holiday will do me good’, I mused and as I hoped to see an ex colleague of mine, I set about going to Wales. No problem - that is until I nearly missed the relevant coach! I got talking to a vicar (well they’re fairly safe - even in this day & age!) who was part of the same destination as I was for the first leg of the journey, and suddenly found his coach was a local service and none was to be found outside the bus station as it was a National Express. My fairy godmother was up to her job, and I managed to mount the correct coach. So far so good I thought and relaxed for the first part of the journey. [random note]
