Got to battlefield early - Chris & Maxine having packed up in readiness to go home. Obtained stand seats (!), 3 stands now in position. Keep meeting people from the camp site - entertained two little girls today! This day saw the re-enactment of the battle - but not before other items, such as archery - all done in the period and atmosphere of the time - and some French country dancing by a troupe from Alsace who were invited owing to the twinning with Strasbourg which had reached 25 years. The battle was run by the Plantagenet Society and had extensive arrival of all the warring Factions, and the battle was relayed in detail to us, over the microphone. Afterwards all the troops paraded around the arena, with everyone (mostly) shouting for Richard, who didn’t really look too bad considering he had been killed at least 3 times in as many days! There were thousands there, even more than on Thursday. Then we came back to the site, and took our leave of Maxine and Chris - sorry to have to bid them farewell. We stayed in overnight - the Cromwellian forces for UNREADABLE battle (1645) having taken over the Rugby Club - a rowdy lot these - no chivalry here! Found out that our Cromwellian friend is a ‘leveller’ and wears green ribbons. And so to bed.
