Audley End & Toad of Toad Hill & the Proms
Made our way to Audley End, where Toad of Toad Hall was born, because Kenneth Grahame used to visit the Hall and row on the river, and it inspired him to write about the wildlife. It’s a beautiful house, with painted oak panelling. The last night of the Proms was being performed there tonight. We had a sandwich & cups of tea before going round the house. We walked round the grounds and then down to the river and watched the world go by. Had a meal in Maxine and Chris’s tent.
