We went to Waltham Abbey - but - on the last stretch of the dual carriageway, the car stopped - it stopped before, but we managed to get a bit further before it stopped again. I had to walk to Waltham Abbey, ask Chris & Maxine hadn’t seen us stop the second time! The lady in the shop at W. Abbey ‘phoned the RAC for us, and Chris went back to tell Bill it would be about an hour - it was in the event, 3/4hr. In the meantime I went into the Abbey, after a pleasant walk by the old waterway, where there had been a mill race, to the Abbey, which was very impressive with 10th century pillars, and a 10th century Wall painting in the Lady Chapel, where a man who seemed to be helping people answer questions, told Sîan all about the painting - which was of the weighing of souls. The ceiling was covered in paintings of signs of the zodiac which he interpreted for Sîan as a Sagittarius or was it a Scorpio? We eventually got together - I’d decided to walk back to the car park and arrived just as he was pulling in to the area! We eventually left to get back and change, as we were going to a pub for a meal - which was very enjoyable. Bill dropped off when we got back and Chris and I had a game of Boules as an aid to our digestion - which seemed to work!
