Went to the Caves Touristique this a.m. We had a conducted tour to ourselves. Very interesting - lots of huge wine presses. Had a free degustation, bought a souvenir - 3 bouteilles du vin! Had lunch at campsite and proceeded to visit two nearby châteaux, Ussé and Azay-le-Rideau. There’s a third one at Langeais but we didn’t get to that one. Ussé is where the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty was born, by the owner at the time, who write the story - nom that’s incorrect, it was Perrault who wrote it, and it’s said, used the château as the model. Information on castle is on P.163 Michelin Guide, Château of the Loire. After suitable refreshment, we carried on the Azay-le-Rideau which is beautiful. It has a portrait of Catherine Medici in it! I took some pictures here of the castle & the lake etc. Came back, ate our ‘dande’ and Bill make a champignions sauce, with a mix, fresh champignions and timed ones. I put the breakfast muesli on top of the ‘bog’, so that I could spray the van - later on I got up, of necessity, lifted the bog lid, and two dishes of muesli threw themselves against the wall, and stuck there! Bill thought the caravan had tombéed! I had to rescue the muesli and clear the mess up! C’est la vie! Moving tomorrow. We’re within spitting distance of France’s premier station nuclear d’electricité de France. Enormous! Makes it’s own clouds from the cooling towers.
