Weather a bit cloudy after lunch, but quite hot. Didn’t do much except visit the village. There are some English people next to us, the man is in the Navy, based in Scotland. We went shopping at Intermarché, outside Evron, when we found it! We bought a bottle of Sauvignon for about 9 francs. Played a bit of badminton with Bill and then the little boy, Richard. Did some knitting - getting on quite well now with it.
Sunday Got up fairly early to visit the local cattle show in a field down the road from the village. Lots of bull - rather large white ones, some with ‘dents’ and some without - Bill thinks it’s age! The largest bull (they had 3 white large bulls there) who had a mask on all the time won 1st prize - but the second bull was really much better. It was run by the bank, who supplied the prizes - a ‘Comice Agricole’ it was called. One bullock got away, and was chased all over the field - I supposed they caught it! The arrivals were tethered by ropes to a long rope - had any of the big bulls gone berserk they could have created havoc, and after all they were facing a lot of cow’s bottoms! We went round the castle walls - we haven’t visited the château though. Sat on sunbathed in the P.M. hot but not unbearable, as we are on a hill here, overlooking the valley of the river UNREADABLE. Went to find the local Dolman without success, but found where we think is the Camp Anglais! Maybe! Oh Well, back to the drawing board!
