Journey to Nogent and a rainy new campsite
Bill better - but still not too good, runs have stopped! However he said he’d be O.K. to leave, so we packed up, said goodbye to the two little Dutch mice in the Erika next door, and set off - about 150 miles to go to Nogent-de-Rotrou. Bill did manage lunch - no ill effects. Decided to look at the campsite at Brunelles, Le Bois Jahan. In the back of beyond, a permanent site - very nice little gardens to some of the perm. vans, extremely clean facilities lots of hot water - more than we could say for the Bourges site, and personal attention from the site owner Msr M Goron, who brought me a bottle of ice, and took the ice bags with him to put in the freezer. More than the bar owner at Bourges who charged 9F for a bottle of ice (which he said we owned drink afterwards - but the bottle split!) and who wouldn’t ‘refraicher’ ice bags! The route (app. 160 miles) we took was to Vierzon, Romorantin, Blois (crossed the Loire here), Châteaudun, Brou, Nogent-de-Rotrou. After a while at the site, it RAINED unbelievable - could walk about without perspiring - it has been a cooler day. The site is on a hill with worthwhile views, which disappeared when it rained but is coming back now. We crossed a very large plain today, all harvest gathered in. The sun flowers have largely lost their petal, and are hanging their heads - Bill said that’s because they were looking seedy!?!
