Did another circuit touristique. Had a good ‘plat de jour’ in St. Cyr-la-Rosière. The natives were sturred to see two English people in their local! They breed Percherons here, we saw some in a field - well it is the Perche area. Visited the forêt de Bellême, spoke to some ‘serfs’ and a French lady, with a baby, who told us how to get to La Chene in the forest, it was 4.2 metres in circumference and 40 metres haut! A very large tall oak tree. It is a oak forest mostly, but with other indigenous trees as well. Bill reminded me - of the choux farci he ate at lunchtime. The entrée was sardines sprinkled with onions and served with a lump of butter - we didn’t know why. We also had baby potatoes sautéd in butter! Very nice too! Played petanque, and then went for a walk in the woods. I woke up in the night and the stars were huge.
