Bill has been ‘fossilling’ on the camp site and the ‘guardian’ told him the cementerie had many fossils. Bill went off to have a look, but couldn’t find his way to the spoil heap. He’s found several ammonites a bite of other fossils, so we’ve a few to bring home. The cement works is ‘enorme’ and is marked on the map as ‘cementerie Francais’, so it must be a main one. We can’t see it from the campsite! Did some knitting while it was peaceful, then we did a route touristique to look at the area. Saw some churches and at Gourge (I think) was the tomb of Guillaume VII and his spouse! We saw the hyde-electrice, barrage which is in the process of developing, at the north end of the lake Chuy-Terrier (?). We noticed several hawks in the area and loads of large crickets, grasshoppers etc. There are one or two chaffinches around and lots of sparrows in the hedges on the La Rochelle camp site, but as they ear themselves, no birds sing - only the ubiquitous dove. At St.Loup-Lamairé, we found a lovely château and gardens and at first I was there alone, it was super having it without hundreds of people around - I’ve taken quite a few pictures of it.
