La Vallee de Creuse and le Château de la Prune au Pot
Decided we’d do something today, so after lunch, did the Circuit Touristique de la Vallee de Creuse. Saw the huge electricity works, and the barrage across the Creuse. Found beaches - very full. We stopped at the lakeside and paddled. Could have swam but didn’t have costumes - the middle of the lake at that part (Bonnu) - not it wasn’t Bonnu, but further north where it’s just the river, and narrows - you could stand up in it, it only came up to their waists - except children of course! It was lovely to just paddle - the metal parts of the car were burning hot. We arrived to look at a Château just as the guardierre was about to take a few people round - so we went to view ‘La Prune au Pot’ the name is a mixture of the village and the family who built it. It has two ‘tours’ and is very large, being restored as much as possible. I also visited a barrel-vaulted roofed church at Ceaulmont, where there was a view of the river down below. We saw the George Sands Hotel at Gargilesse, lots of art there + a romanesque church with frescos in the crypt XII & XIII C.
