Left home eventually without spare caravan keys, but reasonable journey to Maxine & Chris’s, where we had a very good lunch, watched the final between Ivan Lendl x Pat Cash , who won in straight sets - v. good. Mixed doubles won by Jeremy Bates with the odd helpful shot from Jo Durie, who did improve in the second set. First time for about 50 years that a win by an all English mixed pair has been made. After studying frogs and eating tea, we finally left Aldershot at 8:15 (Anzaco was on the telly!). Reached Portsmouth in about an hour and settled down to await embarkation, on Duc du Normandie. Food very good and cheap on board, but after a patchy night’s sleep, we hadn’t time to eat, so set out for Falaise - got it right this time and after a short journey 29 kilometres, we arrived in the camp site at 7:45 local time, having disembarked at 6:30 - or a little before. Had breakfast in camp, laid about a bit - then went to the Supermarche for salad and things for lunch. Bill is snoring his head off and I’m about to join him! The French family next door have a beautiful ginger cat - he’s a tabby - persian - and is kept on a lead, he’s obviously very used to the idea! Bill & I had a game or two of tennis. It got very humid, then we had a heavy shower, but it’s fine now. Arrived Falaise Monday 6th.
